Vote in the DotMusic Awards!

Rather than enter this page in the Dotmusic awards, we're going to link to have you vote for 9inchnails.com, because they rock. Honestly, vote for your favorite site, but we encourage a vote for Painful Convictions.

Vrenna and Clouser update

From Shoutweb:
Reach have changed their name to Reach: One. The band are planning to release their Lava debut in March. The album was produced by Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach) and features programming by NIN's Charlie Clouser.
From PRP:
P.O.D.'s "The Messenjah" has been remixed by former NIN programmer Chris Vrenna for inclusion on an as of yet undecided movie soundtrack. More information is expected at things develop. News on Chris Vrenna and Tweaker can also be found on his official site.
Thanks to Casey for both updates.

Vrenna talks Music & Macs in LA TODAY

He was in the Glendale Galleria on Thursday, and unfortunately I didn't get to update this in time to let you know that until now, but fret not, as Chris Vrenna aka Tweaker (former NIN drummer) will be in LA today talking about "how he uses the Mac [and ProTools] to record, mix, produce and do sound tweaking for his music, producing, game sound design, scoring, and soundtrack work. Plus, there will be a Q&A session at the end where fans can put him on the spot!" You can find him at the Apple store at the South Coast Plaza. If you can't make it out there, you can check out this Apple special section on Chris. Thanks Steph :)
Also worth noting on this subject, we just got word that the Tweaker Store is now fully functional - meaning they accept checks and money orders as well as international orders now. And keep your eyes peeled for another NIN Hotline/Chris Vrenna interview, coming next week!

NIN Update

We've received word from a reliable source that both the next NIN record and Tapeworm are still being worked on, as well as Zack de la Rocha's upcoming solo album. The news of a new video is still unconfirmed, so let's just keep our fingers crossed on that one for the time being. But there is apparently quite a lot going on in the studio at the moment, and we should expect some exciting news in the relatively near future. Stay tuned!

Romanek Directs Video For "Hurt" Cover; New NIN Video?

Johnny Cash and/or Mark Romanek and/or Nine Inch Nails fans rejoice! However, the mention of a new Nine Inch Nails video has obviously not been confirmed by any other official sources and should not be taken without a grain of salt.
From the Johnny Cash Webpage: (https://www.johnnycash.com/news.htm)
October 18, 2002
JOHNNY CASH MAKING NEW MUSIC VIDEO. Today and tomorrow Johnny will be filming his first music video in nine years! Work has begun on the video for the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" which is featured on the upcoming (CD will be released on Nov. 1) Cash Album "When The Man Comes Around." Director Mark Romanek, hot off the heels from finishing a new "Nine Inch Nails" music video, appropriately enough, is in charge of Johnny's new video.
October 21, 2002
Spent three LONG days filming a video for "HURT." This is the first video Johnny has done, since "RUSTY CAGE." This is the very first time anyone has been allowed to shoot in the Johnny Cash Museum. A lot of hard work went in to this production. We are all anxious to see the finished product.
Thanks Eric for the info.

NIN String Tribute In Stores Now!

If you haven't been paying attention, you might have not realized that Vitamin Records' String Quartet Tribute to Nine Inch Nails was released today. I'm rather critical of tribute CDs, and I have to say this one actually impressed me. It's the first NIN tribute disc to do so, in fact. The minimalistic string quartet approach to the songs is like a very elegant independant remix album, tracks such as The Fragile and Eraser standing out amongst the nine songs covered by Eric Gorfain and The Section. As we've mentioned before, Digital Noise ran an interview with Gorfain about a month ago, and you can read it here
As part of this release, we've got several copies of the album to give away, and since I have been very busy with school, work, and two bands, I really haven't been able to come up with a decent contest to couple with this give-away. So I've got a single question, which will be easy for any of you who've been paying attention - What item is in this photo that would help in keeping a tapeworm from exiting his host? Look carefully, and you will notice a butt plug on the end of the keyboard. While many people thought the answer was the Coke can (which theoretically could be used, there is pictoral evidence of this), we reported earlier on the hard-to-see butt plug before, and that was the answer I was looking for. I have stopped taking entries, and will notify the winners via email on Sunday. Thanks again!

Lili

Please keep in your thoughts the residents of Louisiana and surrounding states. They're up against one hell of a storm in the form of Hurricane Lili. Thanks to Babywitch60 for the photo of Nothing Studios. Here's the photo (no more bandwidth problems now!)
