Happy Holidays

... from TNH staff to all.
Also...
A new fan site from Germany has been created. It's very cool, please visit here. Thanks Toby.
From Mtv.news- "We had Charlie [Clouser] from Nine Inch Nails come down and put some samples on it, and that really added a cool element to the song," he said. "We would like to explore with that stuff some more on the record." - Frontman Brett Scallions (of Fuel) talking about their contribution to the "Daredevil" soundtrack. Thanks to Deadpool5 for the submission.

id software looking for a sound designer

Rick sent in news from Shacknews that Christian Antkow from id software is on the hunt for a sound designer for Doom 3. From the details in his .plan file. We've got the word on this that this doesn't affect Trent's work on the game.

FYI

Thanks to the fans who sent in news speculatating that Robin is out of GnR and tour cancellations. Any rumors of the guitarist possibly returning to NIN are false. We've also heard chatter that side projects have taken the place of NIN work. This is also incorrect- the upcoming NIN album is top priority.

Actually, he's not working on Pop Scars.

Following up on an earlier post, the story about Trent Reznor working with American McGee on a game called Pop Scars is actually misleading. Trent has not in fact worked with McGee since working on the Quake soundtrack.

As we find out more information, we'll be posting it here, as usual.

New Clouser interview online

If you surf on over to Ableton.com, you can find a brand spankin' new interview with Charlie Clouser, where you can read about how he has stacks of equipment but generally adheres to software when it comes to composition these days. After reading this, your gearlust is sure to flare up.

American McGee's "Pop Scars"?

Russianguns sent in a blurb he read in the newsletter from Res magazine, shedding light on possibly one more project to file under coming indefinitely whenever:
American McGee is known in the video game world for his work with id Software on the "Doom" and "Quake" titles, as well as at Maxis, where he developed the creepy take on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," "Alice" (note: which Chris Vrenna provided the soundtrack). McGee last year signed a four-movie deal with Dimension Films and is reportedly collaborating with Trent Reznor on a new game called "Pop Scars."
This is the first we've heard of this so far. As usual, if we hear anything else, we'll post it here.

Small NIN Blurb

Miami.com is featuring a short interview with electronic musician Richard Devine, and the new NIN album is mentioned:
And now you're working with Trent Reznor. What's he like?
He's actually really cool, very professional. Trent wants a different sound, so he was looking for a sound designer. He flew me out to do a studio session. He's nothing like you see in the videos. Meeting him was more like a corporate meeting. He introduced himself like I knew nothing about him. I'll be polishing his tracks on the new album, adding breaks and transitions.

The rest of the interview can be read here. Thanks Joe.

December 2002: SickAmongThePure.net

The December issue of SickAmongThePure.net is online! This month features a look at "Theremin" one of the strangest instruments around. Used by Charlie Clouser the theremin is an instrument you never need to touch.
There is also a deconstruction of Supernaut, and an artist profile of Prick.
